Korg announced today a brand new addition to the Kaoss family, the Kaossilator. According to Korg, anyone can play perfect musical phrases by tapping or dragging the touchpad. It's the same size as the KP Mini and runs on AA batteries. Here's the highlights of it's specs:

It seems Korg are giving Yamaha a run for their money for the portable intuitive music making tool, no doubt at a lot cheaper price (the Kaossilator's price is TBA - Update: RRP is £117). With a 5-hour battery life, 24-bit DAC and an RCA phono out for headphones (as well as a main stereo Aux out), it seems pretty ideal for pocket-sized synthesis. It'll be interesting to get hands-on with the unit, which is available in November. Keep your eye on FM for a review and a more in-depth summary.

Midnight Juggernauts: 'We cooked Justice dinner'

Midnight Juggernauts have revealed that French dance act Justice invited them on tour after the band cooked them dinner down under.

"They came to Australia and we cooked them dinner" vocalist Vin Vendetta told NME backstage after the band's opening slot with Justice at Terminal 5 in New York.

"Pedro (Winter - Ed Banger records owner), Xavier and Gaspard, came to Andy's house. We cooked them vegetable pockets and later we found out they liked meat, so I don't know if they liked it so much. Then we went to France and they took us out to dinner in Paris and we said 'Oh we might be playing in San Francisco with you guys' and they said 'why don't you just do the whole tour' and we were like 'Uh, okay'.

The Melbourne-based trio are now preparing for a stint on the road in urope.

"After this tour we move to Europe to tour with Digitalism and we're doing some shows with !!! and the Justice guys, we're doing a bunch of stuff over there, " says drummer Dan Strictmachine.

The band are also preparing for the release of their debut album, but despite their presence in the dance scene, the band say the new record has a lot more to offer than dance floor beats.

"Our early influence was a lot of people in this scene but also Alan Braxe from France, and older bands like Yello, Pink Floyd and some 70's Italian film directors and prog rock bands. It's not all about the dance floor it's about a greater mood you can create with the music. It's broad, it's not really a dance record at all, there's stuff with acoustic guitars. We didn't want to get tied down to any genre, it still has that indie-dance feel, but it harks back to the 70s too.

Yamaha has come up with a music player specially for sportive people. What this gadget does that not other player does? It matches music to the pace of your workout.They claim their player to be "the first music playback device that synchronizes your music to the movement of your workout."

How it does that? Easy, it monitors your pulse and then selects a song that matches the pace of your exercise.

The wonderful toy will cost you $ 300 and it has a 512 MB on flash memory built in. Not much for $ 300, I would expect it to recognize what exercise I am doing and have a month record on that for such price. Or maybe the technology of pace meter and a song matching is so darn expensive.

I wonder what happens if it does not really find the song to your pace.

Ableton Announces Live 7, New Add-On Instruments, And Ableton Suite

Ableton today debuted a range of new software scheduled for release before the end of the year that includes Ableton Live 7, several new add-on instruments, and Ableton Suite combining Live 7 with a selection of instruments in one discounted bundle. Ableton Live 7 features an enhanced audio engine for improved fidelity with 64-bit mix summing, POW-r dithering, optimized sample-rate conversion, and other advances. The update also includes a new compressor that integrates three compression models, one of which is based on a feedback design commonly found in most vintage compressors. Fully integrated side-chaining capability is available for the new compressor, according to Ableton, as well as for Gate and Auto Filter. Ableton Live 7 will be available as a free upgrade to Live 6 users who unlock the software between October 1st of 2007 and January 31st of 2008, with new licenses priced at $500 after that time. Ableton's new instruments be priced at $160 each.

Live 7 adds high-quality modes to Operator, Dynamic Tube, and Saturator for anti-aliased processing as well as reduced typical "digital" artifacts. EQ Eight offers an improved user interface with a 64-bit mode for increased accuracy, while the new Spectrum analyzer provides visual feedback for any audio signals within Live.

The MIDI engine is reworked to minimize timing error -- or jitter -- of recorded MIDI, and hardware integration is streamlined which allows users to insert hardware synthesizers and effects into device chains like software plug-ins. New memory management technology allows users of large sample libraries like Ableton's new sampled instruments or third-party libraries imported via Sampler to run a vast number of instruments at the same time, according to the company.

New Audio and MIDI fact sheets contained in the latest release of Ableton Live 7 explain exactly how signals are or are not being modified when using specific features in Live, and provide tips for achieving the highest quality results. Users can also insert time signature changes into the Arrangement timeline or tie them to Session scenes, export warped as well as unwarped video to files, and display as well as edit multiple automation lanes per track at the same time.

The update includes a new "tempo nudge" function to ease the process of synchronizing to live musicians or DJs, and users can drag-and-drop REX files to play just like WAV or AIFF files. Live, Operator, and Sampler also boast many small improvements and additions based on user requests.

The new "Drum Rack" aims to streamline beat production via a familiar drum pad interface with support for dragging-and-dropping samples, instruments, and effects. Each pad can have its own Sampler, Simpler, Operator, or any other virtual instrument or plug-in as well as its own individual effects chain, according to Ableton. The slicing feature fills a Drum Rack with the individual hits from REX or audio loops, while the original sequence is represented as a MIDI clip to ease the process of replacing, reshuffling, or re-recording the events for individual processing. Each Drum Rack can also have its own sends, returns, and sub-mixes while every pad is displayed as a mixer channel in the Session View and each drum is draggable out of its rack for isolated pattern control and editing.

New Ableton instruments

Ableton's new add-on instruments cover physical models of electric pianos, analog synthesizers, and string instruments as well as multi-mic/multi-layer sampled acoustic drums, drum machines, orchestral strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. The instruments integrate with Live, both in terms of workflow and resource management, according to the company.

TENSION
"TENSION is a physical modeling string synthesizer based on the advanced technology found in String Studio from Applied Acoustics Systems. Through the use of mathematical models, Tension simulates each component of a stringed instrument. Tweak everything from how the string is played—with a pick, bow or hammer—to the size and type of instrument body used. Create incredibly accurate reproductions of real instruments or design otherworldly hybrids, all within Live’s familiar working environment."

ELECTRIC

《劇情簡介》

「韓國希區考克」朴贊郁是唯一獲邀世界3大影展的韓國導演
導演朴贊郁 ( Park Chan-wook) 早期在拍片作風上一向喜歡自編自導，1992年以《月亮，是太陽的夢想》發跡於影壇，雖然沒有獲得任何獎項，但他獨特的電影表達方式已讓業界翹楚們開始注意。2000年朴贊郁導演終於以《JSA 共同警戒區》榮獲柏林影展金熊獎提名，2002年又以《復仇是我的手段》贏得釜山國際影展最佳影片；朴贊郁導演此時名聲已大噪，他成為「票房神話」的新代名詞了。

《演員介紹》
五項影帝「韓國周潤發」崔岷植最震撼代表作
有「韓國周潤發」之稱的崔岷植(CHOI Min-shik)，絕對稱得上是演技派悍將！他的代表作有1998年的《?魚》、2000年的《白蘭》、2001年的《醉畫仙》及2004年的《原罪犯》。

崔岷植自1989年進入影壇，16年來只拍了14部作品，但他獲獎的記錄卻是不勝枚舉：1992年亞太影展最佳男主角、1999年韓國大鐘賞最佳男主角、2000年亞太影展最佳男主角及2004年韓國大鐘賞最佳男主角…等等；而他主演的《醉畫仙》也讓該片導演林權澤勇奪2002年的坎城影展最佳導演獎，而《原罪犯》更是一舉拿2004年坎城影展評審團大獎。崔岷植的"忘我"演出讓他的每部戲劇增色不少，與他共事過的導演莫不誇讚其演技紮實、揮灑自如。

崔岷植在《原罪犯》中成功地被塑造成一個事件的悲劇人物，單是充滿滄桑的外型就已成功的表達出他的角色個性－內斂、冷漠！當有記者問到他怎麼能將這個角色詮釋得這麼好時，崔岷植表示，這部電影最吸引他的就是要將沉悶的15年壓縮在10多分鐘演完，他必需培養自己有「化解壓力」的能力。他認為在他心目中的「男主角大修」是個英雄，而且是個無身懷絕技卻誓死抵抗命運束縛、堅持自我意志的悲劇英雄。

《女人是男人的未來》《野獸》性格男星劉智泰最陰狠演出
現年30歲的劉智泰（YOO Ji-tae）出道已八年，憑著一張俊帥性格的臉龐，再加上186公分的高挑身材，他的演藝之路走起來相當順利。說來奇妙，劉智泰的戲路與其他同期的小生們多有不同，俊帥外貌的角色似乎很少降臨在他身上；相對地，戲路寬廣的劉智泰卻試遍帥哥以外的各種角色，而演出許多膾炙人口的影片。劉智泰的代表作有2001年的文藝愛情片《春逝》、2004年的懸疑驚悚片《鬼鏡》及詭異離奇片《原罪犯》。

劉智泰在《原罪犯》中飾演一個報復心強、卻用讓人意想不到的撇步一步步將人的極限催逼到幾近瘋狂的狀態。劉智泰的戲份雖不若崔岷植重，但混身散發令人不寒而慄的邪氣，反而讓觀眾的印象更為深刻。對劉智泰而言，《原罪犯》算是他現階段最突破性的演出。

鶯歌鎮長遭起訴求處無期徒刑

在獄中爭取鶯歌鎮長連任成功的蘇有仁，今天下午因貪污治罪條例，被板橋地檢署求處無期徒刑，同案的另外33名被告，包括蘇有仁的妻子、包商、設計師，及鶯歌鎮公所的員工，也分別遭到起訴，板橋地檢署表示，依目前的證據看來，蘇有仁等人所收的賄款高達一億元以上。另一方面，如果蘇有仁繼續因案被羈押，明年三月一號新任鎮長的任期，將繼續由縣府派人代理。(程平報導)台北縣鶯歌鎮鎮長連任成功的蘇有仁，十六日被板橋地檢署依違反貪污治罪條例的罪名，求處無期徒刑，同案的另外33名被告，包括蘇有仁的太太蘇宋秀菊，也分別遭到起訴。板橋地檢署襄閱主任檢察官增俊哲表示，蘇有仁自擔任鶯歌鎮長開始，與同案被告涉嫌收受的賄款高達一億元以上。原本蘇有仁的羈押將到十八日到期，但檢方表示已經向法官申請繼續羈押，台北縣政府民政局承辦人員表示，如果蘇有仁因案繼續羈押，縣府將繼續派人代理，如果一審判決有罪，就要立刻停職，但不重新選舉，而如果是經過三審定讞有罪，蘇有仁將遭到解職，但依目前司法訴訟程序所要花費的時間看來，下一任的鶯歌鎮長或許要一直找人代理下去。
